The Urdax Museum is located on the first floor of the town’s monastery, as the town’s history is closely tied to it.
The building itself is unique, as it is the only monastery founded by the Premonstratensian Order in the Kingdom of Navarre.
The cloister, dating from the late 17th century, offers a unique and beautiful setting thanks to its understated elegance, the simplicity of its lines, and the characteristic red color of its stonework.
In addition to serving as a performance and exhibition space, the complex offers a vantage point overlooking the cloister from which we can admire and enjoy this architecture.
This room serves as a setting to present a journey from its origins as a pilgrims’ hospital to the present day, through a tour that begins in the 9th century and takes us through the evolution of the monastery, following in the footsteps of the travelers who journeyed along this ancient Way of St. James, and exploring the history and life of Urdax.
Note: The museum is closed in December and reopens in March.
